The Dish—a Passion Project
Claire created “The Dish: Upper Peninsula Farmers, Foodies, and Chefs” to celebrate the people growing, making, and sharing good food across the Upper Peninsula. She holds close Robin Wall Kimmerer’s words in Braiding Sweetgrass: “all flourishing is mutual.” Guided by that belief, and by a deep curiosity about the people and places behind good food, she invests her time, energy, and resources in uplifting the vibrant local food scene taking root across the U.P.
Food is deeply personal and endlessly complex. Technique carries across generations, flavor shapes memory, and careful tending meets thoughtful preparation.
A fresh local food movement is taking root across the Upper Peninsula. Farmers, food lovers, and chefs are building community through the work of growing, making, and sharing good food. Every unique palate, every flavor, offers a new way to experience what food can mean. Behind every bite is a story—and a person—worth knowing.
The Dish explores what informs and inspires the farmers, foodies, and chefs helping shape this moment. Through tailored questions and minimal editing, we aim to preserve the raw, distinct character of each interview and celebrate the experiences, passions, and dreams behind the U.P.’s flourishing food scene.
