QUALITY AND CARE
At Troemner Farm, we believe that how something is grown matters just as much as what it is. That’s why we’re deeply committed to sourcing every ingredient with intention. Whether we’re making a jar of jam, a loaf of sourdough, or a batch of spiced nuts, we use only organic or locally grown ingredients—always from as close to home as possible.
We buy directly from neighboring farms, regional co-ops, small producers, and family farms who share our values. When something doesn’t grow here, we carefully choose certified organic sources that prioritize soil health, fair labor, and transparency. Every purchase is a vote—for your health, for our community, and for a food system that respects people and the planet.
Because to us, it’s simple: good ingredients make good food. And you deserve food that’s as honest and nourishing as the land it came from.
GRAINS
We purchase bulk, certified organic grains like Einkorn, Rye, and Hard White Wheat from Grand Teton Ancient Grains.
They use organic and regenerative methods that build up their soil and pack nutrition into the foods they grow. We mill these grains fresh on our farm into flour for our breads and baked goods.
HONEY
We source our honey hyper-locally from Great Lakes Apiary, right here in our little community of Atlantic Mine. The beekeeper behind it all, cares for ten hives and overwinters them—a true labor of love that results in pure, raw, and unfiltered wildflower honey, harvested just once a year in the fall.
Just one spoonful was all it took—we were hooked. It’s hands-down the best honey we’ve ever tasted.
We’re so proud to use this wholesome, deeply flavorful ingredient in our bread and pfeffernüsse cookies, where its quality truly shines through. Supporting our neighbors never tasted so sweet.
APPLES
We wild-harvest heritage apples on the farm for our Apple Cider Vinegar. The trees have been left to grow freely for generations. No sprays, no tilling, no trimming—just old trees rooted in rich soil, bearing fruit that’s full of character, complexity, and history. It’s a place where nature leads, and we simply follow—gathering what’s offered, and transforming it into something useful, nourishing, and alive with place.
BEEF
Our stocks and broths are made with slow-simmered local beef soup bones from Frozen Farms Co in Calumet. The owners — Jean and Nathan McParlan — rotationally graze the animals and do not use any growth hormones or antibiotics. Some of their fields even overlook Lake Superior!
MAPLE SAP
Boiled down the traditional way from wild maple sap harvested on a friends property near Chassell, MI, our maple syrup comes from trees growing on unsprayed, untreated land. Just pure, unadulterated Upper Peninsula sweetness.
EGGS
We use our own farm-laid eggs in every batch of our spiced nuts and pfeffernüsse cookies. Our hens are raised with care—roaming, scratching, and sunbathing on pasture—and are fed a wholesome, organic diet. Their feed includes fermented layer mash and organic, soy-free, corn-free feed from Scratch and Peck Feeds, along with a homemade supportive herb blend to promote health and vitality.
